ToughLove was founded by Ashmita, who grew up in the hills of Nepal before moving to the United States. She created ToughLove to share a tradition she knew from home through simple, long-lasting Himalayan cheese chews made in Nepal.

Our story
From Ashmita's home to yours.
I grew up in the hills of Nepal, where yak cheese has been part of life for generations. When I moved to the United States, I wanted to share this tradition with dogs everywhere—and that's how ToughLove began.
For me, ToughLove is also a way to stay connected to where I come from. Every chew carries a small part of Nepal with it: the ingredients, the traditional process, and the work of the people who make it.
ToughLove isn't only about healthy chews. Our treats are handcrafted in Nepal, supporting the livelihoods of farming communities. And through our partnership with Sara Animal Rescue in Nepal, we also help feed and care for animals in need.
Building ToughLove as a woman-owned company has been deeply personal. I wanted to create something dog owners could feel good about bringing into their homes—something natural, useful, and connected to a real place and a real story.
As a woman-led company, I'm proud to stand for more than just a product. ToughLove is about nourishing your dog, sustaining families, and giving hope to street dogs—one chew at a time.
